A Theory on Time Travel – очень подробная и запутанная (даже схема не помогает) теория о путешествиях во времени на острове. По правде говоря, она не понравилась даже мне, хотя я люблю такие вещи.

Зато в ней есть парочка интересных предположений:
Откуда взялась «Черная скала»
Early 1800’s: The Black Rock was a slave boat crossing the Pacific. The boat was transporting a large assortment of metallic minerals, which were highly reactive to other forces of magnetism. Unexpectedly, the boat encounters the island of LOST. Being that the island has unique magnetic properties, the magnetic materials on the boat “react” with the magnetic forces on the island, and the boat is literally hoisted onto the island.

И курс 305
The boat, having strong levels of magnetism, creates a hole in the invisible bubble that surrounds the island – this hole is at coordinate “305”, or the “special location/coordinate” that Daniel’s team travels through to get to the island.

Хотя лично я предпочитаю теорию о том, что остров и «Черная скала» неожиданно встретились во время очередного перемещения)))

It's a good theory. Though that would be freaky for the ship's crew:
CAPTAIN: Ahhhhhh, smooth seas as far as the eye can see.
ISLAND: (pop) Howdy.
CAPTAIN: What the devil!
1st MATE: Captain, we appeared to have run aground.
CAPTAIN: I can see that.
1st MATE: In the middle of a jungle.
CAPTAIN: I can see that too.
1ST MATE: ...shall I make some tea?
CAPTAIN: Please do.
